Experience
I attended Texas State University, where I received a degree in Biology and a degree in Spanish. While enrolled at Texas State, I worked educating in two different capacities. I acted as an Instructional Assistant for two Spanish courses (I / II), and I also tutored high school students locally. Upon graduation, I received teaching certification for Spanish (K-12th grade) and Life Science (grades 8-12). I've also worked tutoring clients privately for a number of years. I generally spend my time tutoring Biology and Spanish, but I have a wide range of expertise and ability. I feel comfortable tutoring Algebra and other areas of Mathematics, Social Studies, Languages, English, and test preparation for the ACT (Reading, Math, Writing). I find it important to relate to students as part of the teaching process, making sure to make connections between the subject material and the students' interests. I like to build safe, pleasant learning environments for students. I like to think of myself as a guide, one who coaches students on how to be passionate, proud of themselves, and independent in their studies. Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, going to the movies, walking my dog, working with animals, and making scrapbooks.
