I recently graduated from Rockhurst University with a BA in English and Secondary Education. Since graduation, I've been looking at my possibilities for the upcoming year. My experience as a student teacher led me to connect with a diverse range of students. I helped incoming students prepare for the Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition test. I've also tutored students on a variety of subjects including literature, writing, editing essays, and public speaking. I really enjoy teaching students to understand reading comprehension and to show them smart strategies to help them understand any type of text. I try to design many of the lessons I teach on a method called "I do, we do, you do." This method allows me to showcase a specific set of skills and slowly encourage students to use the skills on their own. I believe literacy is a fundamental skill to help young people with their college and career endeavors. Teachers I previously worked with stated that I know how to present valuable skills in a way that is relatable to the student. When I'm not tutoring students, you can find me reading, exercising, running, or enjoying situation comedies on television!
