I am currently attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City where I am studying psychology and women's gender studies. Prior to attending the University of Missouri-Kansas, I attended William Jewell College, where I studied elementary education with a focus in English. I have experience as a teacher's assistant working in grades 4-6. I also have experience homeschooling and as a tutor for children that are disabled. I have taught a number of subjects. However, English is my main focus, and it is also a passion of mine. I have had several teachers throughout my life that have really made an impression. I decided to take some of their teaching qualities and apply those qualities to my own teaching style. For example, I believe in teaching in a way that students can relate to. I also believe in clarification. It is important for any teacher to take the time out to clarify challenging areas so that those areas can then be easily understood by the students. I know that each student has different learning needs. Because of this, I take the time out to tailor lessons for each individual. When I am not tutoring or studying, I am writing or traveling. I also enjoy volunteering some of my free time to the UMKC Women's Center and Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault.
