Experience
Throughout undergrad at Mizzou, I tutored multiple college students in various levels of college Spanish. I also taught elementary Spanish in a before-school program for 3 years before becoming a teacher through an Americorps program. Additionally, while I was at Mizzou, I was a Jumpstart Corps Member in various Missouri preschools for three years. I truly have experience teaching and working with every age group when it comes to language learning. Since 2016, I have taught 5th/6th grade Spanish literacy at Carver Dual Language School in KCMO. This essentially means that I am teaching students to read, write, and speak in Spanish every day. I want to use the successful strategies and skills I utilize daily in my own classroom to tutor students or adults in our community during summers and in my spare time. In terms of my own language learning, while I am a Latina, I did not grow up fluent in Spanish. However, because I had the cultural context, I excelled in high school and college Spanish. Throughout college, I traveled a lot to Central America and lived in Honduras. I am now fluent and still learning Spanish every day as a Spanish literacy teacher.

Hobbies
I have a huge passion for language learning and dual language education in our country. I believe being bilingual has countless advantages for children and adults, and I hope to use my bilingual brain to help develop others. Aside from teaching, I love to read, travel, and practice yoga. I'm originally from Chicago, so I love to go home and enjoy a good deep dish pizza or Portillo's hot dog every few months too!
