I earned my undergraduate degree in elementary education with an additional endorsement to teach English as a second language and my graduate degree in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State University. I am currently working as an English instructor online for a technical college and I serve as an instructional coach for the English department. I have been teaching for more than a decade and I truly love working with students to improve their reading and writing skills and helping them achieve their academic goals. I currently tutor students in a variety of courses, including reading, writing, literature, public speaking, English, phonics, comparative literature, English grammar and syntax, and middle school reading. I also enjoy working with students who are preparing for an upcoming exam such as the ACT, MAP, TOEFL, SAT, or ASPIRE. Working individually with students gives me the freedom to cultivate learning plans that specifically address the learning needs and abilities of the student. Lessons should be effective, developmentally appropriate, and challenging if the student is going to master the necessary skills to make them ready for college or a career. I enjoy discovering how my students learn and building a relationship with them that allows me to provide the best instruction possible to help them achieve their academic goals.
