ExperienceI earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at the University of St. Mary. Following graduation, I got a job teaching fourth grade and have since moved up to fifth grade. While teaching in a classroom is a great experience, I especially love working individually with students as a tutor where each child can be given the attention they need and I can tailor my lessons specifically to what works for them. I like to work with a student's strengths, so I do my best to find out what each person is good at and then personalize the material so it fits in with their personality. I love tutoring Math because growing up that was a subject I struggled with very much, and getting over those troubles was one of the things that helped my confidence with learning and developed my passion in the classroom. In addition to Math, I am comfortable teaching Science topics like Biology and Astronomy, History, many facets of English, and assisting in preparation for standardized tests like the SAT. I spend a lot of time with my family of pets and husband, traveling, cooking, reading, and volunteering.
