Experience
I have 20+ years as educator/certified teacher with ECE, ESOL and ESE endorsements. For the past two years I have been teaching ESL classes online to students out of country. I also have 7+ years teaching and directing tutoring enrichment programs for elementary/ middle school aged students both in person and online in United States and abroad (online). I have experience with many cultures but the majority of my students have been of either latino or asian heritage. My main goal is to show every student how to better enable themselves in learning. I believe there is not one way to learn - we all have our own way to comprehend. Some students just need the confidence to believe in their way of learning. Once they learn how they understand something they tend to excel in that area. As a tutor I first learn how they understand then teach them to use whatever tools needed to strengthen learning skills. For students with learning struggles I like to watch as they develop these skills and use them to learn concepts. While working with students I will revisit concepts as needed to develop skills in areas not previously understood to build skills to levels needed. Many times a review or new approach is what a student needs to comprehend a subject. As students gain confidence in what they have learned then new concepts are not as intimidating. Each new discovery a student makes encourages me as an educator and empowers another student to succeed.
