Truman State University (2008) - BA, English , minors: Biology, Painting I am currently working on a DDS. I am available this summer, as I won't take courses in dental school this summer. My pre-DDS coursework included a battery of science course at the college level.
Experience
I have worked as a tutor for about six years, and my main focus is teaching language--both English and Spanish. I learned Spanish myself, so I understand the difficulties that come about when learning Spanish, and I teach Spanish better because of this. I work with middle school through adult students, and previously worked as an assistant teacher at a montessori upper-elementary classroom where I mainly taught English classes, and some science. I recently completed a complete battery of pre-requisites for dental school. This means biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology at the college level. I am a good tutor not only because I can explain scientific, mathematical and grammatical concepts to students, but because I myself have taken my studies seriously and am an example of life-long learning and hard work. I love teaching language because of how it expands a person't worldview. I like to use active listening and humor to connect with my students. I am demanding and try to teach my students skills that will help them throughout life and throughout their education. I also have experience working with english-language learners. I love the chance to connect with people from different cultures and help the understand English, so they can communicate and navigate in a new culture more effectively. I also teach some math and some test-prep on occasion.
