I earned my graduate degree in elementary education and have been a teacher for six years. I tutor a wide variety of elementary subjects, including math, reading, writing, phonics, and English. I also enjoy working with high school and college students to develop their English language and writing skills. As a teacher I am experienced in working with a diverse student population, and I love helping all of my students improve their academic skills. As an experienced teacher, I know how important it is to treat each student as an individual and to take the time to get to know them and understand where they are in a subject. Just because they are in a particular grade level does not mean that is necessarily where their skills are. Some students will find they are more advanced in math even if they struggle with reading and it is a mistake to treat all students in a given grade as being academically alike. I use manipulatives, computers, pencil and paper, whiteboards, hands on activities, and dramatic play to help students engage with the material and master the content. I know how important it is to make learning fun, especially with younger students who often find new information intimidating.
