Experience

Hello! I am offering software engineering lessons from fundamentals and advanced topics in Java and Android development to tools and methodologies such as Git and agile development. Why am I doing this? - There is a shortage of mobile developers in the KC area and the US (especially in Android development), and I would like to do something about that. - I enjoy talking about software development. - I miss teaching. I love the feeling of converting confusion into "A-ha!" moments. - Get to know more like-minded people in the area. A little about my background: I have about five years of experience teaching part time with ages ranging from 16 to 60. I was a teaching assistant in college for Programming I, Programming II, and Data Structures; an instructor for a programming bootcamp on iOS development; and tutor for friends off and on during the week. In addition to my teaching background, I have about three years of experience in software development teams as a business analyst, software developer I, and lead developer (present) in corporate organizations and a startup. I have a strong passion in mobile development with a focus in Java and Android development. I am open to working with any skill level range, including someone who has never typed a line of code. If you are looking to tune your current skills or take the first step into a software engineering career path, I would love to help get you where you want to be. https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryandt

Hobbies

I'm a sleep hygienist, health nut, alliteration aficionado, and occasional pun slinger. When I'm not coding, I'm usually thinking about coding. But when I'm not thinking about coding, you can find me watching/talking about films, listening to/talking about music, reading news articles and blogs, playing word-guessing games, going on walks with friends, urban exploring, riding a bike, cooking, or working out. If you are interested in knowing more about my background or personality, feel free to reach out. Looking forward to working with you or your child!
